Michael Brown

FEMA Director Michael Brown is facing a lot of scrutiny in the press for his agencies response or lack thereof to Hurricane Katrina victims in Louisiana. After he was blamed for his late response people started questioning whether or not Brown was truly qualified to hold the position of Director of FEMA. Time magazine started investigating Michael Brown's resume and found that there were a few discrepancies. On the Find Law website, it says that Brown was a Political Science professor at Central State University but when they talked to Carl Reherman, a former political science professor at the University he said that Brown was never a professor. For more info on Michael Brown and his resume you can visit the following sites and read up on him:

Sarah,

Great entry in your blog this week. I haven't really seen Mike Brown's reume - I noticed on one the first link there was nothing about his tenure with the Arabian Horse Association. This story is getting so much press because it looks like Brown was a Bush "crony". While that's probably true, I heard (on "Real Time with Bill Maher" - not the greatest journalistic source..) that Congress spent less than an hour questioning Brown and unanimously confirmed him.

It seems like the system really failed at just about every level.

Your posting got me thinking about the ABC News, Ted Koppel Special the other night just before the President's speech. What was so amazing about it was Koppel blow-by-blow, step-by-step (including out-of-touch soundbites) from those involved including Brown, Chernoff nd on down the line. Did you see it?

I did see the program. It seems that all of the questioning was just for show. Congress knew they needed something on the books showing that they questioned this guy and checked him out. I think Congress should be held accountable for their role in Brown's confirmation and we as Americans should hold Bush's feet to the fire on this one. This administration is long overdue some kind of heiring or investigation that would hold the President and his advisors and all those down the chain of command responsible. If the man we elected whose job it is to keep us safe does not DO his job by checking out the people that he hires to keep us safe, HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!
